Special Features
Heat Exchanger
The Arctic Hydronic Air Handler has six-row hydronic copper and aluminum heat exchanger with one inch in or outlines. Apart from other counterparts, the six-row heat exchanger is nearly 400% larger than others. This is why the air handlers maximize the rate of heat transfer while using lower water temperatures.


This doesn’t mean that it won’t work with traditional high-temperature boilers. Its output is up to 150,000 BTU at 190F. The heat exchanger has a special internal loop design that allows for low-pressure loss of around 3.1 Feet Head @ 10 GPM.


Direct Drive Motors :
The hydronic air handler features three-phase Direct Drive Motors using different speeds. This means the handler doesn’t need any start-up capacitor, making t more energy efficient. The motor only utilizes what it exactly requires at all times and is powerful enough to deliver around 1750 cubic of air feet per minute. Remember that, the single-phase power is converted to three-phase for the motor through the VFD controller.


VFD Controller :
Arctic Hydronic Air Handlers uses WAG Variable Speed Drive Controller that converts single phase 120 VAC to efficient three-phase power for the operation of the fan motor. It’s responsible for modulating power output matching the load. However, that should be less than 100 watts on constant fan speed.


The handlers have easy touch settings that can allow you to program individual fan speed settings for heating, cooling and fan only mode. The handler monitors and adjusts the static pressure of the heating or cooling system as per the changes like closed vents or dirty filters.


Working Principle :
Variable Speed Fan Control allows hydronic air handler to cover a much larger spectrum effortlessly. The Arctic LV-Z-1750 can produce 3.5-5 tons of heating or cooling whereas the smaller LV-Z1050 can supply 1.5-3 tons of heating or cooling.


The VFD hydronic air handler comes with a built-in static pressure sensor that can allow you to set optimum fan speed automatically for the given house design. This means it can eliminate the need of size of the fan to the duct size virtually.


You can allow it to automatically set the best speed for any given construction or adjust the speed manually. All this is done by measuring the static pressure and optimizing the flow curve base on that static pressure.
